leona21 The weird thing is I like Arthur and Merlin but as friends just as the show intends it to be. IDK if the Merthur fans feel there isn't enough homosexual relationships on tv and so they have to invent one. They can watch Eastenders because there are more than one story line involving gay men. I am serious. It is handled well in my opinion. Actually most of the soaps have at least one relationship like that or had. So I can't understand the need to highjack Merlin like that. If anything it should be the lesbian faction to be more upset as this is hardly ever shown on tv in England.

EPaws I believe it more complex than that Leona. Honestly it is more slash orientated than gay. Wow that is going to sound odd. Let me try to explain and anyone else jump in at any time cause I am sure I won't get it accurately. 99.9% of the audience who wants the slash aspect are pretty much female and they want it on a two fold level. One, quite a goodly number of them are tweens and or young adult females, psycho-sexually ambivalent and secondarily, they fancy the males projected in question. Now, back to that psycho-sexual ambivalents, fundamental insecurities as beings, yes, it is a factor, so they would much rather see the men they are fantasizing about with other men, thereby to that mindset making an even playing field. When you put a woman into the mix, she compares herself to her. Hatred ensues along with inability to marysue herself into the role. So much easier to have the male in question taken completely out of female reach by making them have boners for each other. THAT is what this is about. Nothing else and it is sad. Now, at one point between S1-S2 they played off this niche. Now they just sporadically feed it, but not even with good grace anymore and the actors, are so over it, and it shows lol. Anyway, the point is the show has grown past this niche but it is a bit of an albatross so they feed the beast then go back to the plotline. They alienated said beast latter part of last year so they are throwing crumbs its way. I firmly believe however, they are getting tbe bulk of it done early cause there are 7 ARWENCENTRIC episodes to come so getting it out of the way. Personally I want to see a non-stupid relationship, a strong relationship a humorous relationship, respectful relationship develop between Arthur adn Merlin. Bradley and Cols can totally pull that off and to be honest...they would prefer it.

lv2rt Well, it's DEFINATELY NOT just the UK. I've been around for a while now and I've only lived in the US. From my personal experience it's always been here regardless as to whether it was overt or covert. It's just now people couch it in illogical statements and stupid reasonings that are clearly not the reason why they are saying and doing what they are doing. Then there are those that just hate so much that they have no logical reasoning for their hate so they start personal attacks and debase name calling not only to the actors but also to you, people they have never met and never will. It's a sad state of affairs for humanity. I fear we will never live as long as the dinosaurs. At least when they attacked each other it was to survive themselves. SMDH!!!!!

leona21 I am now in two minds as to whether I want them to have that kiss we have seen, in episode 5 or have it after the Lancelot debacle. All I know I love these too showing eachother affection. Also what I loved about this kiss was what had preceded it. The way he talked about what she could do whilst he and the Knights were gone and she started to walk away but he put his arm out to stop her. I thought that darn sexy.
